W. T. Stead (1849–1912) was a pioneering British journalist and one of the boldest public voices of his era. A champion of social reform and an early explorer of psychic and spiritual phenomena, he approached the unseen world with the same curiosity he brought to his investigative work. Stead died aboard the Titanic in 1912. Soon after, his daughter Estelle Stead and the medium Pardoe Woodman began receiving the messages that became The Blue Island—a vivid account of Stead’s first experiences after death, offered in his familiar, steady tone. Today he is remembered as both a reformer and a bridge-walker between worlds.
